Invictus Training Camp

I spent the past weekend in San Diego at the Invictus Training Camp. I was lucky enough to be able to attend the weekend as a guest. Overall good weekend. Learned a lot about hitting the right position in everything from Olympic lifting to gymnastics. Learned some good rowing tips. I learned a lot though Kelly Starrett about the importance of mobility and ways to work on that.
On Saturday night, we had a great motivational speaker who talked about having the right mindset which was a good reminder. I have always had the quote on the top of my blog saying "You can do whatever you set your mind to". I truly believe that; the mind is much more powerful than we think.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday we had training sessions. Friday was a recovery run, Saturday was an AMRAP and Sunday was a 2007 Games Event. The work outs went pretty well.

Saturday
8 min amrap:
150double under buy in
Then in remaining time
4 squats clean 135#
8 burpees
Score: 4 rounds + 10 reps
Felt ok. Double unders were unbroken. Squat cleans got heavy but breathing was good, used burpees as recovery and kept moving.

Left to right: Chelsea Ryan, Elyse Umeda,
Jen Jones, Tarasa Barnett, Jenny Labaw
Sunday
2007 games Event
1000m row
Then 5 rounds:
25 pull ups
7 shoulder to overhead 95#
Felt good here.. finished in 14:07 with a pretty thick Pullup bar which made grip tough. Row was around 4 min. All shoulder to overhead unbroken. Pullups in smaller sets with short rests.

Overall walked away with this weekend feeling confident with my training. I feel better than I ever have and feel like I am beginning to be able to hang with the top girls. Can't wait to keep moving forward! I feel like im on the right path and in a few more months of hardwork, its going to be cool to see where im at.
Thanks Michael!
