1. The thing I first noticed was the metal center ring is very sturdy. What I experience with other brands I have used is, overtime, the rubber around the center ring begins to split and the center ring becomes loose, and sometimes even falls out completely. The bumpers from rep fitness are engineered in a way that I do not see this happening, the metal expands inside the rubber part, giving it a solid connection.
2. These weights do not bounce. With other brands, I often notice that a bar dropped with only 10lb bumpers usually bounces and skids to one side or another. Not only is this annoying during a work out, but it is also unsafe. In something like a CrossFit group class/competition, bars bouncing all over the place can not happen. The weights from Rep Fitness provide a safer solution to the problem, you can still drop the weights, but they settle quickly on the floor in the exact place that they are dropped.
3. These weights are thinner than others. This is especially good when there is a heavy lifter doing something such as squat or deadlifts. Thinner weights provide more room on the bar to load up for these heavy lifts.
The only drawback is they do seem to be a bit louder. But my thought behind this is, since they seem much more durable and dense, they will make a louder sound when they hit the ground. To me, the durability that the Rep Fitness weights have seem to outweigh the 1 draw back of being louder than other brands.
I am very excited to have my own set of bumpers to bring up to my cabin so I can continue to train hard at my favorite weekend vacation spot! Thank you Rep Fitness!
