My Supplements

A lot of people ask me what supplements I take, and the question has come up a few times recently so I thought I would make a post about it. I do not take a pre work out of any sort. I have taken a few pre work out supplements and I felt like I was going to go to into cardiac arrest. My metabolic conditioning already sky-rockets my heart rate so there is no need or desire for a pre work out. I am always ready for any work out thrown my way, and I am normally pretty excited to see what I can do. However, after I am done with my work out, I always take a recovery drink which is a combination of Carbs, Whey Protein, and Glutacor. I also take pills of branched-chain amino acids in the morning, when I work out, and before bed. The first supplement (left in the picture) is Mass Fuzion, a post work out supplement made of carbohydrates that helps in muscle recovery and growth. I used to take this a lot but I stopped when my training was not so intense. However, I started to take it again because I often just need a source of calories and it helps me recover a lot quicker. The next supplement Pro 5 is the whey protein I take after my work outs. Depending on my training day I will have anywhere from 1 to 3 shakes with Pro 5 per day. My favorite flavors are the banana and the strawberry. Glutacor, in the white container, is a glutamine based supplement that helps support protein synthesis, cell hydration and immune function, in addition to speedy muscle recovery and increased lean muscle. I also have heard it helps boost one's immune system, so I make sure to include Glutacor in my recovery drinks and a scoop before bed. I have done work outs when I did not have all my stuff with me and I honestly do not recover quick at all. I always have a nasty head ache that will not go away until I refuel my body. I think I deplete myself of everything my body naturally produces, so it is important for me to refuel myself through supplements. Usually I can be exhausted from a work out but after I have a recovery drink, I will feel somewhat fine within 10 minutes. I usually wait 45-60 minutes before I eat solid food, but I cannot always time it perfectly, so I just try to be as close to the time frame as possible.

My favorite places to go for supplements are Health e Centric and Nutrishop. The guys at both of these shops are very helpful and knowledgeable, so they can help you find your nutritional needs and answer any questions. Also my friend Alec has a great online set up with lots of choices, check that out here.
