So far my triple days have been going well. I feel like my body is beginning to acclimate to the volume. I have been enjoying them a lot and really enjoying my time off from school. The days have been flying by. My morning sessions seem to wear me out the most, but last wednesday's PM intervals were very tough and I have more of those headed my way. I've been feeling stronger and overall more efficient. I have been learning more about myself and how to pace appropriately. I was warming up for yesterday's tester and
Joey Warren saw the work out and said "you should be doing one per minute" and I thought that would be cool but I was thinking I would only get 10 rounds (limited by my dips). I didn't want to waste any energy by doing a muscle up then failing to complete the next 3 dips. I began the work out and my first round was done very quickly, I waited until the clock said :45 and began my next round. I kept this same pace going the whole way. I ended up getting about 20 to 25 sec of rest before doing another MU into the dips. At round 6 I didn't think I would be able to hold on for 15 total rounds but I really surprised myself. I maintained focus and made sure that when I did my MU I was efficient so that the next 3 dips would be completed and not too taxing. This was great, in fact the most difficult movement of the whole work out was the dip out of the muscle up, the next 3 dips were not nearly as deep as the initial one so they really weren't that bad. I had good energy and was having fun. I flew through the pistols. I ended up with 15 rounds + MU + Dips + 4 pistols. I'm not sure what a "good" score would be for this tester but I walked away satisfied with my performance. Days like yesterday are what keep me going, I continue to surprise myself and others with my capabilities and I am nowhere close to my potential, cool!

Here is my ice BUCKET! Minute 19 of 20 almost done!!! |
Yesterday I was guessing my legs would be sore today and I was definitely right. My quads and ass are so sore it's difficult to walk! The good news is I have been enjoying my recovery days almost as much as my triple days. Without a recovery work out I couldn't imagine how sore I would be 2 days later. My legs have taken a beating from the volume but they have been recovering and feeling stronger.
Here is a look into a rest day:
45 Min Z1 run
30 Min foam roll and dynamic stretching
(foam rolling was killer today!)
20 Minute Ice Bath
Yes the ice bath sucks and yes it is very cold outside, but I really do feel rejuvenated AFTER!
